I keep getting mixed answers regarding this question...

If you retake a course that you received a F (for whatever reason when you were 16 yrs old!)... how does that affect your science GPA?

Do I put F and then B on the application or just B? How does this work? If anybody knows, your answer would be really appreciated.

I will try to answer this as specifically as I can with out it being confusing.

You put BOTH the F and the B on your application. There are several boxes and codes that you put in for each course that you took. One of those boxes includes codes for thing like: in progress, Advanced Placement, Not taken yet, etc. In this same spot you may put a code of "Repeat" for the course that you received an F in. ALL COURSE ATTEMPTS MUST SHOW ON THE APPLICATION. So you will put that class down for both semesters that you took it.

When the evaluator then verifies your application against your transcript, they will check to see that you did in fact repeat the class that you received the F grade in and they will only use the B grade in your gpa.

If you do not use this "repeat" code when putting in your coursework on your application, then BOTH grades will be used in calculating your GPA.

The confusion is that ONLY AACOMAS does this. AMCAS requires ALL grades in your gpa calculation.

Hope that clears it up.
