I recently saw that people are talking about retaking science classes that they got a C in. I have gotten a couple of C's and each was very upsetting (naturally)! I am not the smartest girl in the world, but I work extremely hard and sacrifice my social life completely for school and the chance of getting in dental school. During my in season semesters (softball) I had some low GPA's that has dramatically dropped my GPA. 😡 Currently I have a 3.29 cum, and a around 2.75ish maybe science. I am a junior, and I am taking my DAT this summer.

😕My Question is ... How dose retaking a class help your GPA? How do dental schools look at it? Has anyone ever done this and got a C again b/c frankly that class was a weak point for you (ekkk)! Or anyone afraid to retake a C class because they are scared they could have the same outcome?😕

Thank ya'll very much! Please help me; I have to fix this GPA so I can get in.... What is the lowest GPA's that people have heard of people getting in with?

What are your C's in. What schools are you aiming for.
I got a C in evolution ( a first semester bio), molecular (genetics) where over 3/4 of the class got a C, and this semester Organic Chemisrty. But i don't know if I could do better in O chem. I am taking O-chem 2 in th espring and i am freaking because it is the same teacher adn his test are rediculous and e is a genius who relays the information on way too high of a level for me (and most of the class).

You're fine with that GPA. You have higher stats than me and I was accepted to a few schools on Nov 30th.

Instead of retaking, I would recommend taking upper division science classes and doing well in them instead.

I am in a similiar situation, I just got a C+ in Orgo, but in orgo lab I got a D!!!!!!!!! Never have I ever got a D, not even a C-, im scared, and I have to take Orgo II in the spring....my summer will be filled with Physics I and II in order to have a shot at UMDNJ for fall '09.....so I can't retake anything in the summer, does anyone think Ill be okay? I too have sacrificed a lot to try to get a higher GPA but working two jobs and playing volleyball may have been a bad combination when trying to do stellar in school....

please help...

Oh I forgot to mention, lab doesn't count in the lecture grade, its a seperate ONE CREDIT course which blows, but it shouldn't affect by GPA tooooo much..

similar situation, but i am not tripping. i asked the exact same question here when i joined, and got shot down and told. ahaha. got 2 C+s in animal bio and biochem. I didnt retake them, but raised my gpa by taking an extra semester. I even have an F in ESL class that I took when I was in 9th grade. past is past.
