I was in a similar situation as you are in now. I graduated from a university with a 2.5 GPA and knew this would not cut it for medical schools. I went to my state college and retook 34 credits of C's and D's and got A's in almost all of them, except for one or two B+'s. My GPA went to a 3.2.

Make sure the classes you retake are undergraduate though (postbac), because if they're graduate level classes they will not change ur undergrad GPA at all.

Hope this helps.

hey,
check out the post bacc section to get your specifics answered.

Okay so i'm in a similiar situation, does the new grade just completly replace the old grade into the new gpa? Will adcoms just look at the replaced grades for the required courses (kind of like pick and choose the best)? How does it show up in the application? Just a new GPA with the old grades showing up and the recalculations? Thanks!
