I had my interview at PCO at the end of September and they told me that they wanted me to retake the OAT before they make a decision. I thought my interview went really well, so I was wondering if anyone has had this happen before? They didn't reject me so I'm taking that as a good thing. When I took them the first time, I had a lot on my plate and didn't get a whole lot of time to study, so I'm confident I'll do better this time. I'm taking them at the end of December. Also, I would love any advice on studying or test taking skills. Thanks in advance!! 🙂

Hey, yes it happened to me as well. I had my interview at the end of October and I got a letter from them saying that the committee will take a decision after I retake the OAT. I also plan to rewrite it at the end of December but this semester is so tough for me and I am really scared. What if I get lower marks than before? I did not register for the test yet, did you already?

It's a difficult situation! I'm scared I still won't improve but I'm trying to be optimistic about it. I didn't register yet, but I'm thinking I'm going to take it on December 29th. That'll give me enough time from finals to be able study constantly until then. I'm watching Chad's videos and using my Kaplan book to study. My friend is also letting me borrow her Princeton Review books. How did you study the first time?

Do you guys mind me asking what you made on the OAT. I am in the process of applying and still havent heard back from any of the schools. Just curious.

I used the Big Kaplan book and Princeton Review. I'm thinking of buying Chad's videos as well. do you think those will be helpful?

They've been really helpful so far! I definitely recommend them, and they're only $50/month.

I think they make many people retake the OAT. They probably just want their averages of the one's accepted to be the best of all of the optometry schools.

nmb14, when did you find out about PCO?

I found out today actually! I retook the test on January 15th and I heard back today.

oh did you get an email? i had an interview last week, and i'm so anxious!

No, I didn't get an email, which also threw me off. But I think later in the process, they might not send emails out. I just got the letter in the mail.

ohh okay gotcha. well congrats!! that's amazing.
