review book

I don't think there is any one good book out there to study...

I used Kaplan's book and thought their bio section was very comprehensive. I didn't try to memorize everything in there - I just made sure I read through and could answer the questions at the end of the chapters. Kaplan math sucked!!! I don't have any recommendations for math review.

For chemistry, you could try the MCAT ExamKrackers general and organic review. Both are excellent books. I have them, and since I'm not retaking the PCAT, I would be willing to sell them since they were kind of expensive. I will have to check to see if I wrote in them. Sad that I can't remember now!

Verbal - read literature, subscribe to dictionary.com word of the day and try to learn one new word each day. Try to learn different analogies and how they are related to one another. Kaplan's section for verbal reasoning was sufficient because it tells you how to approach the questions.

Also, this is a timed test. You get points for the answers you get correct and you're not penalized for wrong answers. It's really hard to do, but answer the easy questions first then go back and spend more time on the questions you have more difficulty with. Bubble in your answers on the answer sheet as you're going through. Your first impression is usually the right one! If you skip questions, to avoid getting mixed up on the answer sheet, just use your pencil to make a light pencil mark on one of the answers (like a little line through B). That's easier to erase.

The most important thing though, is to learn it the first time when you're in class. It's a lot of material to try to learn in a short amount of time. Good luck. Sorry this turned out to be longer than I though it would. Hope some of this advice helps you!!!

I thought Kaplan's book prepared well for biology, math, and chemistry. I used it as my primary study guide and did well in all three areas. Kaplan's biology does not however review microbiology which is on the PCAT
