Hi

I'm based in the UK, and doing a PhD in the middle of medical school (US equivalent between second and third year). I'm looking to sit the step 1 just after the PhD, as I'm currently not enrolled in a medical school.

I have just over 3 years until I complete the PhD, and I wanted to know people's thoughts are on how realistic it is to revise over the whole PhD, rather than to revise for 6 months at the end?

Thanks.

Ideally, you should have taken step 1 before starting the phd when the information is fresh. You're going to detract from your phd work with minimal return on investment by starting step studying over 3 years. Focus on finishing the phd with 6 months to spare so that you can re-learn all the information you forgot over 3 years.

Also, why are you taking the step if you're in the uk...?
Maybe because UK is an island and it is sinking ? not to mention the fact that whole Europe is going down financially sooner than later.:xf:

are you submitting a revision of a textbook- your post is singularly troubling in its lack of direction and semantic conclusiveness

'Revising' is the British English term to use for 'reviewing' for an exam. Just as they 'sit' or 'write' exams, and we 'take' them. Let's try and remember we have friends overseas before wagging fingers at people for being ambiguous..

I've also heard countless South Asian students say they're preparing to "give" an exam. Apparently in Hindi you use the verb for "give" when you take an exam.
