Hi every one!

I am planning to rewrite F.A for step 1

I have very good concepts, and i feel like F.A is a mess, they have written every thing in one paragraph, making it very hard to memorize facts. If i write the same stuff in an easy to memorize way with some significant high yield additions, especially in physio and gross anatomy, how would you like that book?

So, let me know:

1) What you like about F.A

2) What you hate about F.A and wish it can be changed

3) How good my book would be sold

Any other suggestions.

I didn't realize how profound my boards burnout was until this thread

while it's true that FA is weak on physio and anatomy, the rest of FA is gold. I just used BRS physio and some other anatomy resources to supplement FA. Also, uworld teaches a lot of physio and anatomy with really clear explanations. I wouldn't buy your "Second Aid" even if i had money to burn.

I think all the good resources for step 1 are out there. we just need to stick to 2-3 sources and master them.

3) NYTimes bestseller for one month then pirated by every IMG/FMG and most AMG by month two. No more copies sold by month three.

Don't you want some thing better than F.A?

Thanks for your plan of launching FA like book and below is my feedback on FA

Pros:
1.Strong in subjects other than Anatomy-Physiology
2.Colored Book

Cons:
1.Weak in Anatomy and Physiology
2. Poorly organized to memorize ( lack of tables etc)

I am looking for FA like book balancing all topics and at the same time need good organization of topics which will lessen strain to memorize. I will add more if i remember something else.

FA is not supposed to be your sole study material. It is called FA because it is the first line in your knowledge for the boards. It is a skeleton design to review from. They made additional subject books to cover the rest in detail. Supplement FA with costanzo/goljan here or there and uworld and that is all you need. Also tables suck to memorize from. Mnemonics and pictures are way more effective.

I know someone who did a neuro-usmle book based on FA, UW, Pathoma, kaplan and his usmle exam Qs, and he even went furthermore by making videos explaining every things in his book. If u r going to do it for the rest blocks I will definitely buy it.
