Hi guys!
I was hoping to draw from the advice and experience of anybody who's been a reapplicant for dental school. I applied mid to late cycle last year and received multiple interviews. However, after getting my 1st acceptance, I realized that my financial situation wouldn't allow me to place the down-payment on a school and follow my dreams of traveling the world, something I believe is important in helping bridge cultural barriers that may interfere with patient care. As such, I declined the rest of my interviews and decided to apply again this cycle.
With my GPA, DAT scores, personal statement, and extra-curriculars, I feel fairly confident that I'm a competitive applicant. My plan so far is to incorporate my travels and experiences up to this point into my personal statement and other appropriate sections of the AADSAS application. However, I'm not sure if completely rewriting my personal statement and other sections of the application is necessary. For instance, would I need to rewrite the section of manual dexterity when it hasn't really changed since last year? What do you guys think?
TL;DR... Rejected interviews and acceptance into dental school last year because of my financial situation conflicting with my dreams of traveling the world. Competitive applicant with a strong personal statement that's to be updated with the significance of my time off and travels. Is a complete rewrite of my personal statement and all sections of the AADSAS application necessary/recommended?
Thanks for the help guys! Sorry if my post was too long!
