Right time to retake MCAT??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm a senior and will be applying this coming June
I took mcat last august and got 35R with 14/7/14. I was averaging 9 on aamc tests and 7 is just ridiculous so will be retaking.
I registered for 3/24 but have been quite busy with all other stuffs like school, research, volunteer and others.

So my question is what is the date later than 3/24 that I can register and still be early in the process? I heard you can still take it around June and submit amcas in early June but it takes a month to verify that I will have a time enough even though score comes around July? Is this right?

or should I at least take it at May so I can apply as soon as cycle opens?

thank you

April would be best. That way you can start filling out your AMCAS while you have your scores back and submit in early June. But if April is too early for you, then May would be okay.

May and June are fine to take if you are sure that you're gonna get a good score. You can submit your app and get it verified while you're waiting on your score.

Also, I'm not sure if you should retake with a 35, even with the 7 on verbal

A 7 is a low score. True. But overall you have a 35. Great job. You should be okay with that.

Actually, I agree with the decision to retake. 14/7/14 is pretty unbalanced. Even if the 14's slip a bit, a 13/9/13 is a much more presentable 35.

This 👍
