Hi, I have 3.9 GPA in Engg. from a top 20 school and 3 years research experience in the same lab with 2 publications and 1 more first author publication on the way. Not much volunteering/ ECs apart from a shadowing experience. I took my Mcat in april and have got 30, I am retaking on july 2nd.

I plan to submit my AMCAS primary on june25th so that I can get verified before my Mcat result gets released in aug in order to be an early applicant.

My question to you guys- Can i add schools like wash U who are considered to be partcular about numbers on june 24th itself, or wait for my mcat results around august 5th ( i am averaging 34 in my practice tests , so I am hoping my Mcat will be slightly better this time around) and add them later? is there a risk of pre secondary rejection if I apply early with a 30 Mcat to schools like wash u, Northwestern, vanderbilt and emory?

thanks in advance for your replies.

Most schools just automatically send out the secondary to everyone (they want your $$$), but some schools actually screen people out. Those schools include UCSF and Vanderbilt, and I'm sure there are others that I didn't apply to. Find out which schools screen and hold off on applying to those. But most schools you don't have to worry about.

I'd wait. I just don't trust med schools not to confused by or ignore new scores. August 5th isn't late. Get the AMCAS verified then add schools when your new scores are in.

Yes I think this is good advice. Just have your app completed to submit on the day your MCAT is released.

Also, assuming you rock the MCAT the second time, expect to be asked why at almost every interview you go on. Have a good answer.
