Hi guys,
I am currently a 6 year intern at Rite Aid pharmacy in NYC and was wondering if any other 6 year interns have gotten any job offers from their district managers? Any information on the topic is appreciated! Thanks

No offer yet. Did the interest letter and got email from regional recruiter saying he wants to interview me, asking for my resume. I sent it to him Thursday, and have not received an interview date yet. I think interest letter said offers will be issued by Dec. 15th.

I will be very surprised if Rite-Aid makes it through 2012

Just because a business is posting a profit loss doesn't necessarily mean that it's not making any money. It could be it's accountants manipulating numbers to avoid paying taxes.

Its stuff like that that put thier last CEO in federal prison. Wrong Aid is a joke. They are living on borrowed time.

Some people would rather work for a joke than be unemployed, or just looking for a backup in case residency falls through.

Indeed, you should all have backup plans. Trust me on that one.

Rite Aid will last a few more years but I doubt the company will last beyond that. That company sucks ass anyway. Don't work for them. I made that mistake. Horrible DMs, horrible working conditions, long shifts, essentially no breaks. If you are going to work retail go to Walgreen's or Walmart. At least Walmart shuts down for lunch and nurses give the flu shots.

You guys really hate on Rite-Aid, but the pharmacy field is going to get much worse if they go out of business. Best case scenario is they get bought out and their stores will be consolidated. A significant amount of pharmacists will flood the job market, making it much worse then it is now.

this person is 100% correct. as much as you hate Rite-Aid. the problem is pharmacists have let corporations take over and ruin pharmacy. pharmacists are reliant upon being hired to have a job. so if they implode, the pharmacists are screwed as well.

not a good place to be in pharmacy these days

Yikes! What happened? 😕

I didn't match and my CV was good enough to go a lot of places. But things happened. I didn't expect not matching and I was caught with my pants down, as they would say.

Are you going to try again in this year's match process?

You think this is cool, braaahhh? I aam daaaaaaa dawwwwwwg.

But seriously, you are 100% correct.

unsure. I just landed a job at a hospital as a staffer. Hospital will be going decentralized. And its a state run place so I don't know. I want to give it a shot...

curious to see if anyone received any offer yet?

Wasn't Rite-Aid just bought out by Walgreens? They will stay around. Things will get better for the stores and current customer base will stay, if not get larger.

My Offer was sent last friday and should arrive via FED EX today. The company is doing well for what they are as of now. I wouldn't worry about them going anywhere in the near future. I know pharmacists that have worked in the same building for years under many different names.....it doesn't really matter.

my friend just got her offer from Rite Aid in NYC...110k a year, she said it was $52 and some change an hour.

Nice, they're just starting to interview us. Our interviews are in January.

That's a lot less than I make in the rural midwest and the cost of living is a hell of a lot lower here. Glad I live here!

In NYC?!?!?! Good lord. I make way more than that down the street in Philly.

I looked at a cost of living calculator...a salary of $135,000 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania should increase to $203,075 in New York, New York. You'd have to be paid like $95/hour to be equally compensated to someone in Philly. Yeah, that's not happening. Eff that, if I'm you, I'd be looking elsewhere...

That's super off, I know of Rite Aid Pharmacists out of school for only 3 years in Upstate and Western NY and they are making more than that.

You are correct sir. I started at a significantly higher rate.

yeah a lot of my friends are getting poor offers. Another friend in Nassau County (border Queens/NYC) CVS for overnight $59.00/hr she said it comes out to a little less than 120k? I think that's terrible esp for overnight CVS!!

That's actually just under $130k. With bonus and holiday pay, it's more like $135k.

52 an hour is right for NYC now in this economy

everyone who says it should be higher wasn't hired this year out of school, they graduated before. this is the new starting rate in 2011, 2012

Actually 59 dollars is about right. The 59 dollars in the contract does not take into account for over night differential pay. That gets added automatically. 65 dollars for a starting new pharmacist is not bad at all.

so, retails pharmacies have started a downward push in salaries? How long until the starting salary is 40/hour?

Walgreen was paying a pharmacist 40/hour when I was doing my internship in Michigan. I noticed that when the pharmacist was checking it on the computer. Is that really possible?
I am not really sure if the pharmacist is a graduate from a US school.
