Hello all,

Wow, what a week it has been! As most of you know, I recently began the long and winding "road to 28". This was a HUGE week for me! I finished my science review on Thursday and took my first Bootcamp test on Friday. I scored a 28 Bio, 30 GC, 30 OC, 26 PAT, 24 QR, 26 RC. While I am fairly pleased with these scores, I KNOW that I can do better (especially on Bio, QR, and RC). The 26 PAT was a little disappointing, but I'm not too worried. I think I will progress pretty rapidly in this section, and should be getting 30s pretty regularly come August.

Although I am happy with how the first practice test went, I am left with two pretty major concerns. First, I am having a hard time believing that the Bootcamp science sections are of the same difficulty as the real deal. Seriously, half way through the test I really thought that Ari was f***ing with me haha. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? How should I be supplementing Bootcamp to make sure that I stay in peak form? Second, I am starting to freak out about QR and RC. I have said since the beginning of this journey that I need to crush those two sections to achieve my goal. I really just don't know if I will be able to get these scores up before my test date (August 4th). However, as the saying goes, if your dreams don't scare you, then they're not big enough. So, I guess I might be on the right track ...

I guess that's all for the past week. It's time to get motivated for this coming week. I just have to remind myself: if getting a 28 was easy, everyone would do it.

Thanks,
Roadto28

Only a 24 QR?

Good for you.

for sciences, you should use datgenius, it is more difficult than bootcamp. RC on real DAT is a joke compared to bootcamp so you should be fine to get a 30. the PAT on actual DAT is really hard compared to basically any practice I've done including bootcamp so I think if I were you I would focus on that and then QR which should be pretty easy to improve.

I don't know whether this is a joke or not but it's quite entertaining to read.

I love opening this thread just to see how bamboozled and annoyed people get haha. Whether you are for real or not, keep up the good work roadto28

Jack you're on the fast track to 15s #roadtonowhere

That's what I thought too when I took the real DAT--the bio section is very broad. Nonetheless, how in-depth do you expect it to be given that it's 40 questions long and supposed to cover everything from ecology to molecular biology while providing a score that can be used to compare 1000s of applicants?

It could drill someone on 40 tiny details regarding tumor-suppressor genes, but it won't, because that won't yield a score that is representative of an applicant's overall biology knowledge.

Keep up the good work. I always loved watching "Road to Grandmaster" type of things for video games. Glad to see you're enjoying the process haha

If you guys want a good read look at this link and read through all OPs posts. Lots of good content in there. My favorite part was him saying to take easier college classes and a lighter course load to prepare for the DAT 🤣

Beast scores, but two summers and 650 hours of prep: why?

With your game time abilities, I contend that you could have cut your prep time by 50-75% and still landed in the mid-twenties.

I mean, it's not like you'll have all kinds of dedicated time to prep for the boards.

OP: I personally disagree. I think the two summers and 650 hours of prep were ESSENTIAL to my getting such an awesome score. I'm not sure what you mean by my game time abilities. I view my intelligence level to be more-or-less on the same playing field as everyone else. I personally feel what set me apart was the massive amounts of time I spent studying. Those many hours pouring over my DAT textbooks is what enabled me to master the material in time for my DAT. In my opinion, more hours of studying always lead to a better mastery of the material.

Also, I do think I will have all kinds of dedicated time to prep for the boards. I'll simply start studying earlier and harder for them. If I begin studying for my boards months before everyone else, then I WILL have all kinds of dedicated time to prep for the boards.

This dude was so weird...still remember how he licked the boards because he couldn't erase thme during the test. like why? how does that save time? to have a smeared nasty board?
