how do people find the Robbins path review questions compared to Step 1 questions. Are they harder/easier, more detail oriented etc. Been doing the Robbins questions with my school path exams before tests and i seem to get in the low to mid 80's on them. Some of the questions like 3 or 4 per chapter it seems i have no clue about, not mentioned in class or in goljan. Use the robbins text to read about the things presented in class in more detail but dont read complete chapters. Any insight

They are harder than Step I questions and if you are consistently scoring >80% you are a pathology genius.

Well, im doing them right before an exam, right after i just finished reviewing the material for the block. So i think im doing better than i would be simply because i just reviewed the topic not even an hour ago.

For those who have taken Step 1...

Are the Robbins questions merely good practice for learning? Or are the questions in general pretty similar to those seen on Step 1?

they are extremely good practice for learning. the questions, however, are not very similar to those in the real test. the concepts tested are similar (even though robbins has some detailed path questions that you are unlikely to encounter in step 1), and the pics/slides are great for preparing for the "what is the pathologic process shown in the picture" questions in step 1.

What?

Doing well on any set of questions is always a good thing (and since (OP) you're preparing for a block exam, you should be good to go)

that being said -
You can have little to no actual understanding of the material in robbins question book, and get the questions right - simply having read the chapter. The questions are straight from the reading material and require no real thought process after reading a chapter.

I used the Robbins questions for prep for taking school exams. They are pretty detailed and seemed better suited for the detail required of school exams. I will definitely not be reviewing those questions for Step 1 not only because of time, but also because I think the UW questions are far more integrative and educational.
