Hi all,

Today, I watched a youtube clip (below, at 3:00) and the author predicted that pharmacist will be replaced with robot pharmacist within 20 years.

What do you think?

Again, proposed by idiot programmers who have zero experience or even have a clue about what happens in a pharmacy. I don't think robots have enough sense to determine relevant from irrelevant DURs or use judgment. I would imagine almost nothing would be dispensed if robots could not overcome alert fatigue.

I think it would be more correct to say pharmacists are increasingly having to rely on robots for technician work. Some of these claims are ridiculous and far fetched (replacing 1 of many tasks performed by someone does not translate to replacing n entire profession).

These videos are the cancer of Youtube (as are their counterpart "top ten" articles on any of those trendy news sites). Clickbait titles with a bunch of half-baked predictions with the only purpose being to get views. Maybe the eventual "less techs means less need for pharmacists to supervise" issue will come to pass, but that's when we'll see a shift from tech:RPh ratio laws to script volume:RPh ratio laws.
