I had a root canal done on tooth #30 last Thurs after < a month before an unsucessful filling and subsequent bite adjustments failed to reduce the pain I was having in the tooth. It's now Tues and I'm still in alot of pain. I take Motrin every 6-8 hrs or so and last night I woke up with it throbbing again. It was a pretty extensive root canal and I had 5 channels that were cleaned out and filled. I have a crown build up in the tooth now in anticipation for a crown when the tooth has calmed down. My jaw hurts, my gum line hurts around the tooth and I can;t bite down on anything it's so sore. Is this normal for a post op root canal? Should I wait at least a full week? I don't have an abscess, lymph nodes, fever or the like. My dentist keeps telling me to wait a little longer. It's hard when your trying to concentrate on seeing patients all day with this throbbing in your mouth! Any advice would be so appreciated. 🙁
