Is anyone else interviewing here on that date? Or has anyone interviewed here before and have any insight into what I should expect during the interview?

Also - where is a good place to stay? I noticed the nearest hotel seems to be a few miles away so I'm not sure where to stay or how to get to the campus.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I'm interviewing 10/12 as well. I talked to some hotels and they said it would be a "good idea" to stay south of campus. I'm staying in the Hilton Garden Inn just south. They said they can arrange a fixed rate cab or shuttle apparently. However, RFUMS has some hotels on their website that have shuttles to RFUMS.

Thanks! If you are flying, how are you getting from the airport to the hotel?

I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott when I interviewed. Some parts of Waukegan, IL (the town north of the school) are rougher but you won't encounter those areas on your way to the school. Libertyville, Gurnee, everything west is a large suburban mall complex. The hotels that Rosalind lists (probably in your interview packet) are all in sterile, commercial areas and/or busy roads anyway. The towns south of the school are extremely wealthy FYI.

There are fixed rate taxis from the airport to the North Chicago area for less than $50. You can google several services. The problem will be getting to the school from your hotel on interview morning.

Has anyone heard anything back yet? I was at this interview as well.

I know of a few people who received waitlist emails this afternoon. I haven't received anything yet on this end. Anyone else receive word of acceptance/waitlist?

What was your overall impression of the program after the interview? Do you know how many people they typically interview?

Don't quote me, but they threw some numbers on the board right at the end of the day. I thought they had interviewed, in total, something close to 200. One of the first years giving us a tour said that auditorium was full when they interviewed. From the interview/tour, there's seems to be high praise about professor-student interaction, and the open door policy. Also, there are a large array of specialties held by the profs. Although parts are under construction, I liked the facilities. I got an overall good impression. Yourself?

I have not interviewed with Rosalind Franklin. I have received an interview invitation for Nov. 16th but it conflicts with another interview I already scheduled. I'm deciding if I should try to move it to the January 25th interview but it might be more difficult to get accepted since they have rolling admissions.

Any update yet markem? Good luck!

They don't fill up the class completely by January. It's still possible to get accepted even if you get waitlisted from the January interview. Rosalind goes deep down the waitlist to fill classes. A good percentage of my classmates are off the waitlist from the late interviews.

If the other school has another interview date, prioritize your top pick first. Otherwise go with your gut (which appears to be the other school).

Thanks illineyedpt. That is great to know. I guess it was intimidating to know that the people above were waitlisted and they had pretty good stats. What makes the choice hard is that they have one priority interview. They have another interview date but that's only if they don't fill up the seats already. I am leaning towards Rosalind though but just wanted to attend both interviews.

No problem. Really take a long, hard look at Rosalind first though before committing. Make sure that the program (especially their clinical education) can help you meet your goals. You're interviewing them as much as they're interviewing you. Good luck and message me with any questions.
