I just got a copy of the newest edition of Rosen's. I have to say that the text is much improved from the previous edition. Full color tables, graphs, and photos; better layout and text fonts; and greater editing.

Hats off to a text deserving of its own thread! All Hail the almighty Rosen's!

Damn moneybags... they must be paying you residents well up there (or atleast giving you guys a great textbook account).

Agree with Southerndoc.

I got the newest edition of Rosen's as well and it is a very comprehensive sweet text.

Isn't the content though pretty similiar? Flipping through it I saw a few extra chapters, but for the most part most of the chapters are not that much updated. Seems like just nicer pictures and formatting, but not much more content.

I saw this coming from a Tintinalli shop, but Rosen's seems to me to be better written. Yes, it's more verbose, but the text seems to flow better and is more readable.

I also like that Rosen's isn't packaged as one mammoth volume. It is easier to take smaller volumes around with you to read.

Speaking of which, I have to thank Roja for a suggestion she posted a year ago. I took my Tintinalli to a Kinkos and had them chop off the cover and break the pages into 5 smaller, bound volumes. They put plastic covers on each for protection but it is SOOO much easier to read now. The only downside is that I felt sort of blasphemous for cutting up a book.

Take care,
Jeff

I always hated toting Tintinalli into a Starbucks to read. It's much easier to throw one volume of Rosen's in my laptop messenger bag. Tintinalli won't fit.

I'm afraid of taking up the suggestion of having Kinko's cut up my Tintinalli and rebound it into smaller volumes. I'm afraid they will do a horrible job.

Yep, there was much fear for me that day. As it turns out, a couple of pages (the ones dealing with hydrocarbon toxicity...long story) where slightly askew. The holes in them weren't lined up quite right. They're still secure in the binding, they just don't look as good as I would have prefered. Because of this, they did the whole job for free.

Take care,
Jeff

PS, now if we could only get Roberts & Hedges into multiple volumes and with color pictures!
