1. How many hours do pharmacy students TYPICALLY work doing rotations and other required work at different pharmacys in 1st year, 2nd, and 3rd year?

2. I already have a job at a particular pharmacy as a tech 10 hours a week. Can I work there and also get credit for doing the rotation?

3. What type of work will pharmacy students do on the rotation in 1st, 2nd, and third year?

1. Most of my rotations have been for 40 hours a week. Some preceptors take pity on you and let you go home early on some days. I've also had to stay late on occasion. It all evens out to about 40 per week.

2. No they don't count any tech work towards rotations. Since you'll be working M-F for rotations, you'll have to work your regular job on weekends.

3. This will vary by school. At UF during the 1st year we did community health screenings and were assigned a family to visit and follow up with during the year. During year 2, we worked one semester at a hospital pharmacy and one semester at a retail pharmacy for a couple of hours each week. Starting at the end of year 3, were our real rotations. Our school has 11 months of rotations, then we return to school for our last two months. There's only 11 months, because we get one month off for vacation.

My rotations are all at hospitals except I did two months at a clinic for ambulatory care and one month of Target retail hell.

Dana, just wondering, but what did you not like about working at Target? I hear they are one of the best places for retail. Or do you just not like retail?
