The question is "List your interests (outside of academics) in order of importance to you." and the word limit is 1000 characters.

Am I expected to explain/describe things I list? Or just listing is enough--even bullets are ok?

Thanks!!! I would also appreciate if you could give me an idea of what sort of things are appropriate to list 🙂

I just plain listed what I was interested in. Very informally. Here's my list :

"Playing violin and piano
Swimming and Tennis
Reading, especially medical related books, legal thrillers, and TIME
Visiting historical sites in the Washington, DC area
Watching Television/Movies: NBC?s ER, TLC and Discovery Health Channel programs"

I tried to put the stuff that wasn't listed anywhere else on my app. Considering this application really give the adcom a complete picture of the applicant, this is a great chance for you to be casual. I put what I actually have interests in, even though they may seem cliche. Good luck.

In my opinion bullet points are too informal for an essay. I listed my greatest interest first, in paragraph form and described it briefly. I then expanded upon that and how it ties into the other interests that I have. Try to make it unified, avoid just listing items.

Just my opinion.... 😳

In my opinion, we should all just not apply to Rush in protest of their stupidly long secondary application. It got voted off my island.
