Rush Secondary Question

This is the secondary for hell. I am trying to make it one of the first secondaries I do so I have essay material for all the rest of the secondaries. My question is: are you using all 2000 characters for the questions? For some of the question, I feel I have written enough (case in point, the question about personal characteristic I possess and how that relates to medicine). That one is only about 1000 long? How are other people doing this? Thanks guys.

I just started outlining ideas for the Rush secondary essays, so I am not sure how long mine are, but I doubt I will use the whole space alloted. My advice to you is keep your essays the way they are. If you can clearly articulate your point in 1000 characters, then leave it at that. If you start adding stuff just to fill space then the essay will be wordy and lose focus. I've worked as a writing advisor/tutor and I'll tell you, there is nothing worse than essays that are long and wordy written with the obvious purpose of filling space.

Is "biting off more than you can chew" considered an academic weakness. I do this an awful lot with school and I seem to run myself ragged every semester. Never learn though....

I got into RUsh last year. THeir secondary was a pain with all those damn questions but they only gave an inch and a half margain per question. Now there are asking for 2000 characters for all of their essays??????

Yup... pain in my arse. All SEVEN of them.

That's much better than the 12 we had last year. I kept my short and sweet (~800-1000 characters) and that seemed to be OK.

im working on them as i speak (taking a break). Most of them are between 800-1200 characters.

so am I...I just want to be done with it. My answers are getting shorter and shorter the more I get done. I am still hung up on the weaknesses question though...do they want like "I have trouble trusting people" or "I have bad handwriting" (personal vs not so personal)

I think the weakness I am going with is "I expect out of other people what I expect out of myself" Does that sound right? Is there a better way to put that?

I do realize that I am really just talking to myself on this thread here but its a good brainstorming tool.

here's a question i have for the rush secondary...the first question is the one about a major problem you encountered in the past couple years and how you resolved it....if i explained that pretty well in my PS on AMCAS, could i just copy/paste my portion from my PS? or should i rewrite it so its a 'new' essay?

Agree with all of you - this is the secondary from hell. I think for the weakness question, I am going to go with "I tend to overfocus on one thing, which makes it great for plowing through projects, but I tend to stare at the tree and not see the forest". Best of luck everyone.

I said that my greatest academic strength (ambition) segued into my greatest academic weakness (overloading myself academically). So yes, I did what you are talking about.

ahh the rush secondary. tho i did like the fact that i wasnt really limited in what i had to say. most of the answers had like 2 paragraphs. . if you can get your point across then thats all that matters.
