Any Rutgers students on here about to enter their P1 year in the Fall, any idea how many of your classmates are going to drop out after this Spring or have already dropped out? I have heard these will be the only spots open to x-fers.

I am an applicant trying to transfer into the P1 year and just wanted to have a gauge of what the odds are going to be, I know they're not good.

its hard to guess, but i'd estimate at least 20-30 have dropped out.

how big are class sizes at rutgers these days? i remember when my class (2008) was the first class that the admin. for some reason wanted to admit as many students as humanly possible (started from almost 400 but graduated about 240) whereas the class of 2007 graduated only 150-160 PharmDs

and you wonder why the job market in nj is so bad...

The P2 class is somewhere around 210

From what I'm told by pharmacy students at Rutgers, the number of transfers admitted is so small that it isn't even worth it to apply unless you have stellar stats.

Even as a NJ resident, I did not apply to Rutgers for this cycle. Your chances of acceptance are greatly increased by applying to a Philadelphia school.

Rutgers goes through the much attrition?!? Holy cow... is this standard for other pharmacy schools too?

Mississippi hurts for pharmacists. Our school gets 100 good students and really try to keep them in school

Keep in mind Rutgers is a 0+6 school so some of the attrition, I think, is from the pre-pharmacy students who either decide they don't want to do pharmacy or can't keep up with the undergrad workload. These days they're admitting somewhere around 200, give or take, as freshman and then filling the holes with students who try to transfer into the P1 class.

My year they let 30-40 transfers if I remember correctly, so don't count yourself out. The number definitely fluctuates by year though.

Ole Miss is 0-6 as well. Well, 0-7 now. But we usually have about 50 "early entry" students out of high school and attrition usually cuts it down to 25 students by the time they enter the actual pharmacy school curriculum. So it's about 25 that were on the 0-6 path and then 75 from 2-4 path. I am still shocked that Boston College has that many accepted out of high school. 200+ in a pharmacy class seems massive to me.
