Hi everyone,
I'm new to the website. It seems everyone is predemoninately on the West coast or wants to be on the West coast. I'm from the East, is there anyone out there going to Rutgers? Or hopes to get into Rutgers?
I work for a Pharmaceutical company and have decided that my Business major is so not getting me anywhere. But now having the exposure, I decided that being a Pharmacist is what I want to do.
I've talked to some of the pharmacists that I work with who graduated from Rutgers and they found that it was easier to get in as a 3rd year student transferring in. I'm in the process of taking the required science classes. Is anyone out there currently in the same boat and perhaps heard the same rumor?

i heard it was harder to get in as a transfer for most 6 year programs...

I am currently in my last year at Rutgers, from my experiences and what I've heard the competition to get into the pharmacy school has dramatically increased. It is much easier to get in from high school than to transfer into 3rd year. Good luck!

another economics/business guy going into pharmacy. YES! anyways, from what I have seen, EVERYWHERE in the US, competition is increasing. So it's nothing new. If I were you, I would use your connections with the pharmacists you work with to the fullest. Especially ones at Rutgers. Plus, you do have an edge being that you have experience. Good luck and keep us updated as you go along.

it's another business "girl" Eddie-thanks so much - when I first put the thought of being a pharmacist in my head, i just kind of swatted it away, and thought I was crazy, immature, impulsive...but now, I wish I did it when the program was only 4 years.
And thanks rutpharm - the Ernest Mario school of pharmacy requirements is my new bible now. I'm hoping that having good grades on the pre-reqs, working in the industry and being from NJ gives me a better edge somehow.....one can only hope.
