Rutgers South DPT ACCEPTANCE!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Me too, but do you guys think about this school ? I don’t really know about this school and I’m from the city

Congrats to you both!! Are you guys going to commit?
I am not sure, it was in my top three starting out but since interviewing at a few different schools I started to really like schools I have never been. I am lucky enough to be accepted multiple places so it is a tough decision!

It is a newer program with a smaller class and staff size located at a community college. It is a new branch off of the Rutgers North DPT school. All of the students that go there currently seemed to really enjoy the smaller size and said that professors are really great with them and being available. No cadaver lab on campus and have to travel for clinical which is most schools. They have decent stats if that matters but really beside what I learned through asking questions on interview day I don't know all that much about this program.

They don’t have cadaver lab so we will have to go somewhere else for the cadaver or they don’t offer at all ?

I believe go somewhere else. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that's mandatory for the program so most schools just partner with another school or hospital that has one.

I am 98% sure they said the cadaver lab is in Rowan University which is 10 min away by train i think. Either that or they said something about it being at the RU Camden building?

I got accepted!!! Congrats to those who got accepted as well! 🙂 Does anyone know if Rutgers-South abides by the APTA traffic rules, which says that schools shoudn’t require a down payment until January 15th? In the acceptance letter it states that we have to submit the down payment within two weeks. Was wondering if that was really the case. Thank you!

Oh awesome! Thanks for the reply. Do you have to take the train to Rowan? And what’s SOM?

Sorry SOM= school of medicine
And no need for train, it's about a 5-10 minute drive
ahh okay thanks! And do you have to take a train anywhere to get to a certain class? I think I remember one of the students giving a tour mention something like that.

Also, where can I find a schedule/calendar of the program. I can only find the curriculum but want to find out what specific dates each semester runs and when our "breaks" will be. Thank you in advance!

There is one class in the 1st year fall where you go to Rutgers Camden 1 day per week (neuroscience) but we just carpooled, I'm not sure if anyone took the train

for schedule/calendar, I don't know if they have a generic one available, but if you message me I will give you details for how it was for my class.

How do you like about this program? one thing which makes me concern about is the low graduation rate, they have small class, but they do have 4-5 people cannot graduate every year on average

I don't know where you got the 4-5 people who can't graduate on average from, I know the class that just graduated was 100%, the one before them had a bunch who failed, I think around 5. The current 3rd years had one leave voluntarily in the first few weeks, but everyone else is still there, and I believe the second years haven't lost anyone yet.

What I like about the program is that it was in state for me so cheaper than other options, and located in an area that is cheap to live in. And as mentioned about I do like that we have a small class size.

According to the website, beside last year, the last four years had 4-5 people which couldn’t graduate and the percentage of graduation rate is only 84%

Past students said they have created their own class FB groups, so here ya go... for the class of 2022!!

Just FB message me something that validates you were accepted!

hey guys! I have a really strange question... I sent in my deposit two weeks ago now as well as mailed and faxed my required forms. I also emailed and called both north and south asking for confirmation they have received my required paperwork, in the emails I attached the paperwork in a PDF file along with the confirmation of my background check but its been two weeks and no one is getting back to me. Did anyone else get any type of confirmation their stuff was received and processed?

Has anyone tried emailing the administration asking questions? I have sent many emails over the past weeks asking questions but no one has gotten back to me. Feeling a little ghosted lol.

Also, is anyone else a little concerned by the 84% graduation rate? What are your thoughts on it?

Same! I reached out to both Monica and the admission email with no luck. Most likely going to poke around and call tomorrow just to expedite!

I have a question, how does your schedule look like more or less? Im hoping to keep some type of job if its possible.

Depends on how much time you need to study/go out, I wouldn't recommend working the first summer when you're in Anatomy. Once you start 2nd year you can apply for work study, which is basically paid study time with a little work sprinkled in.

schedule varies a bit, but after 1st year is done you're in the classroom a lot less

I recently just committed to Rutgers South. I had the same question, and asked a current third year student. His response "The graduation rate statistic is flawed by the class of 17. they had I believe 7 fail out. the class of 18 went 32/32 and my class (19) is 31/32. class of 20 I believe is all still accounted for as well. " Based on this info, it makes sense why their graduation rate would be so low. I wouldn't worry too much about it

Thank you for your insight! When I called the admissions and asked them about the grad rate, the first thing they said was “where did you read that!?” and I told them it was on the website. She was kind of surprised at the statistic as I was, and reassured me the faculty will do everything in their power to help students. I feel better now that a student in the program told me the real numbers!

I know the program starts on May 28th, but does anyone know how long the summer session is? Im guessing its 6-8 weeks and then we start in the Fall probably late August/early September?

So I heard last year it was 10 weeks and ended the first week in August and then fall started the last week in August
