Hi!! I recently accepted my offer at RVC starting this fall (fingers crossed all is well by then!). Ive been going around the forums and finding some current RVC students hoping to connect and get some insight on life there, living, EMS, classes, visas, tuition, etc. Im still in the process of figuring out what I even need to figure out, but thought I'd connect with some students and get on your radar if you dont mind!! Im also from the US (nyc specifically)

(I know theres some other forums for our class of 2024 but was trying to consolidate more Q&A type questions to one place - feel free to invite your friends or anyone you know going!)

Thanks!!

EDIT: this started as a conversation but I've moved it over to a forum so people can join/add others. New to this site, just figuring it all out!

Interested in other people's perspectives on funding this education. is it comparable to your instate school in tuition? Canadian vet med tuition is much less expensive so if I were to be accepted to my provincial school it would be an easy choice but how are others seeing it?

Let's say I accept my seat at RVC and pay the seat deposit but then no longer can attend then I have to decline my seat. Their letter makes it sound like there would be some kind of repercussion for doing that, just kinda concerned as to what or if that is true. I can't predict how my life will go the next few months, I fully plan to make RVC work but I'm having a hard time getting a loan to cover the whole tuition amount.

Anybody know or got any advice on this?

you would just lose the deposit amount but if you have a conditional offer you don't have to put your deposit down until you fulfill those conditions. otherwise you don't have to put a deposit down until end of May which is reasonable.

Just curious, do we have to take IELTS beforehand in order to process our visa? If yes, how did u guys finish this test at this point? Since the virus situation is still going on?

Hey guys! I am also attending RVC in the fall for the 4 year program! Feel free to connect with me!

You will only need to take that if you’re not in an English-speaking country. Canadian and US students don’t need it.
If you need the test and can’t make it work with the virus, then just email RVC. They have been bending over backwards for us current students and I’m sure they will help you.

I may have asked this before but any Canadian students here? How are you guys funding your education? Did you get a loan from a bank and student loans? I have no one to sign a loan with me and student loans doesn't give enough to cover tuition fees. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful!
