the difference in prestige seems pretty negligible. either school would match you into a boston or nyc based residency. match rates are dropping nationally but i believe rwj dropped due to students applying more competitively (they were advised to take research years and didn’t). seems like you like umass more though and the cost difference of 30k is not unreasonable.

My child went to UMass and loved it. Very friendly environment, supportive classmates, lots of opportunities for research, community service, other projects. Match list reflects its status as a state school (many prefer to stay in MA, so lots match to UMass or programs in Boston) but it is possible to match anywhere.
