So I have to decide between these two schools. Any opinions on their MD/PhD programs? From what I have seen online, it seems as if NJMS is a lower tier program, with not as many research opportunities. It also seems to be located in a bad area. However, that is all I have. Can someone else contrbute?

Being familiar with both schools, I will say that they are very similar in terms of clinical opportunities.

RWJ allowed (at least when I interviewed there) you to earn your phd at Princeton, which is a big boon on the research side. But finding research opportunities depends more on your interests and etc.

I'm not sure how the NJMS md/phd is doing right now, but RWJMS is apparently having some financial difficulties. They recently reduced the stipend substantially during the clinical years (according to a friend in the program). Interpret this however you want. But in the end pick whichever one you have the best feeling with.
