Anybody here ever used this site? Are their courses worth the money? I'd like to get a job as a pharm tech, but the job market where I live stinks, so I want to get some more training to make my application look better.

I don't know where you live, but it shouldn't be that hard to find a part time job as a tech, with the possible exception of CA. Most stores have some way of training and certifying their techs internally and don't care about a distance learning certificate or anything like that. If you have a degree, or are planning on going to pharmacy school it should make you MUCH more competitive than most applicants for the job. At least that's the case around here. Don't forget about pharmacies in grocery stores and independant pharmacies. Sometimes you have to be hired as a "pharmacy cashier" and then move up to tech after a certain time period. Just keep looking, you should find something. Some larger universities hire volunteers to work in their on-campus pharmacy. You might want to check into that one too. Good luck!

Every now and then at the Rite-Aid I intern at, someone comes up and inquires about pharm tech work, and they are always directed to the district manager...you might want to contact a few DM's and inquire about training and qualifications for employment. Best of luck to you!

Yeah, i think for the most part those sites are dedicated to people w/out college experience who want to increase their salary by being a tech (just like dental assitants, OR techs) that kinda thing. You shouldn't need to do that for gaining a tech position. If you have your degree you probably already qualify, if you don't work in the pharmacy as a clerk. It's crazy talk to pay good money to be a tech, just to pay a lot more money to become a pharmacist. The clerks in my walgreens know everything as well as i do. They don't get to dispense, but believe it or not that's not the biggest part of retail, it's third party by far and they get to do all of that. They also have positions like pharmacy typist where you enter the scripts, out-window, the only thing you need is be able to type like 50 wpm or something

I'll take LVPharm's suggestion and call some district managers about requirements in my state (Kansas).
