i'm feeling really sad lately. i haven't heard anything from any schools yet (i have 0 interviews) and my sadness is getting so deep that i just don't even want to attend my clases anymore. i can't get up in the morning. i have finals next week and i'm going to do horribly since i haven't been keeping up with my classes at all. and if i do get an interview, they're going to see my bad grades this quarter and they'll be doubtful of me. ah, i'm just tied down............

::sniff, sniff:: I hope I don't smell a troll...FF was good for now.

you just have to keep on keepin' on. just remember that there are many people who are also struggling and who have know even greater hardships. this life can be very difficult. the only way that you will make it and see the fruit of your labor is if you keep on going even when you can't see two feet ahead of you. no one ever gets their dreams handed to them on a silver platter. you can't let this bring you down. focus on your classes. it's never too late to start studying like mad. even though you might feel like this application process is out of your control, there are still some things that you can control, like your studies.

Hey tennistar, I can relate to how you are feeling. I finally heard about an interview on Monday, and the wait was much more difficult than I anticipated. I felt distracted at work and depressed at home--each day I'd get home and check the mail, the last chance to hear any news for the day...and when nothing was there, I'd bitch to my BF and anyone else who would listen about how my chances for acceptance were slipping away.

Of course, this was overly dramatic--it's only December, it's getting later but by no means too late yet. It also depends on your situation. If you applied early, took the April MCAT and haven't heard anything yet, you may want to check with schools (call or e-mail) if you haven't already done so to make sure they have everything they're supposed to. You could also send update letters if you have anything positive to add to what you've already submitted. If you took the Aug MCAT this year (like I did) or just applied later, then schools may just now be getting around to looking at your application. This process is very slow and frustrating, but it doesn't mean you won't get in. Take a realistic look at your app: do you have competitive stats? Was your application delayed by anything (Aug MCAT, late application or LOR's)? If so, the wait is probably due to that. If you have mediocre/low numbers or another major flaw that may be holding you back, don't lose hope--there's still lots of time for interviews, just because you weren't in the first batch doesn't mean you have no chance. You don't need to really worry about not hearing anything until late Jan/early Feb. Good luck to you, in all likelihood you will start hearing back from schools soon and feel much better. :luck:

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. It really sucks but keep your heads up! 🙂

you're all so great. thanks for taking time to tell me it's ok.

best of luck to u guys 2.

don't worry, you can give me tennis lessons if you don't get in.

Tennistar, being the president of the "no one wants to look at your crappy application club" (24 applications and not a whisper of a response yet!) All i can say is keep your chin up. Things always will work out for the best if you believe in it and work hard. To tell you the truth, yes it bothered me that no one has responded yet. but it doesnt get me down because I know what I want to be and I will get there one way or the other. You need to have the same positive mindset. You can't solve any problems with a negative mindset---Believe me I've tried!!! 🙂

I second what Mistress wrote. I was in a similar situation. After weeks and weeks of waiting, I finally got my *first* interview yesterday. I was just as depressed as you are: I couldn't get my work done in the lab, I skipped ALL my classes last week, and I had not started studying for finals. I could barely get out of bed, and people (including my bf and family) were tired of me b1tching about this process...

But, don't lose hope. Are you an April or August MCATer? If you are an August MCATer and applied late, it is very possible that they haven't looked at your interview yet. It doesn't mean that you'll be rejected. Keep your head up. And, if you can, send them an update letter. That will force them to open your file and look at it again.

If you hare an April MCATer, you need to become very active about your apps. Call the schools or write letters to the Deans as CarlosMielefan suggested (no emails, they won't get back to you). Express your interest in their school, etc.

Good luck! :luck: :luck: :luck:

It's hard to not be overwhelmed with this process especially with finals and winter rolling in. If you really are finding it hard to get going in the morning and you find yourself without energy you might consider taking advantage of your schools counseling services since they are usually accustomed to the issues that seniors find themselves facing.

best of luck.
