Has anyone been on a salud trip? is it well organized and reputable? do you get your money's worth?

i'm thinking of going in the month between 2nd and 3rd year. (i am going to take my boards as early as possible...call me crazy, but i really want a real summer).

I don't know anything about Salud trips, but if you're interested I have info on another org. PM me if you're interested.

I did the Amerispan Salud trip to Costa Rica 2 years ago. I definitely enjoyed my time and am glad that I went. However, there are many other programs out there that are much less expensive

hi,

i went on a 4-week amerispan salud independent trip to cuernavaca, mexico in july/august of this past summer. i enjoyed it a lot, but it was quite expensive. this was also partly b/c i did it an off time (therefore the independent program) so i was also the only med student there... but that was ok with me. as such, it was a little more daunting cuz i had to figure some of the stuff out on my own. another city may have been cheaper, i can't remember the price breakdown. it was a cool program, though, cuz i spent 2 weeks in 2 diff. hospitals doing some shadowing. I'm not sure if other cheaper programs can offer that same shadowing experience.... but if you just want to take spanish classes and live with a host family, there are definitely cheaper programs out there. if you have other questions, you can email me at [email protected]. Another thing you should do is ask Amerispan for a list of references... they will give you a list of emails of ppl who went on a particular trip who you can email and ask about their specific experiences. good luck and have fun!

I did Salad Costa rica this past summer post M1 yr. PM me if you have any questions. The program is mostly spanish conversation for all levels with a very minute health focus. Costa Rica is a blast though.
