Anyone have any experience with this? I just heard about it from a professor during a lecture about neurological exams, and how this drug produces out of body experiences.

Apparently from all the things I've checked, the drug is still legal in the US but is slowly being banned, some people think it's gonna be gone by 2010. Also, it looks like its a pretty safe drug, just because the government is in the process of banning it, doesn't make it bad.

So yeah? Anyone ever try it?

i saw it on 60 minutes or some news show. there is a growing "scare" going on which is going to lead to it being banned entirely.

Yeah from what I've found out so far, part of the reason why it's getting banned is because people were videotaping themselves on it, and then uploading it to Youtube, which was then viewed by some douchebag lawmakers who now want to ban it.

Ohio recently passed a law to ban it in 90 days. So me and few classmates got some to try it out before the deadline.

It produce hallucinations but no euphoria. It's only funny because people are seeing/believing things that are not there. For example, during the trip, I was seeing/feeling that I was back in kindergarten, and was describing it really weird ways. My friend's girlfriend was talking about being on sesame street. In contrast, when my girlfriend tried it, it produced no noticeable effect.

From inhalation to onset is very rapid, 10-20 seconds, and the affects start to wear off in few minutes. The entire experience lasts 10-20 minutes.

It has no addictive potential or hang-overs, you don't have urges to try it again. It's not a dangerous drug unless you try it in a dangerous environment. 🙄

Salvia is a VERY potent hallucinogen indigenous to the Americas. It has a long history of use by the native people.

The above poster is pretty spot on in describing its effects.

It seems to effect different people differently. For some it seems to require a sensitization trial (the 1st time they try it, no effect; the 2nd time it will work as advertised). You can easily disassociate from your body, surroundings and even personality with even a small dose taken the right way. It is typically smoked out of a pipe; but was used by the indigenous people as a bolus that was held in the cheek or under the tongue for longer lasting effects. There are a ton of resources online describing the practice for those interested.

To my knowledge, there haven't been any deaths or accidents associated with its use, but like anything it could be dangerous if used in the wrong context. Many "head shops" refuse to sell it for fear that customers will smoke it in front of the store and run out into traffic thinking they are a platypus.

Not sure if it's on erowid.com or not, but a lot of trippy drug stuff is. A preceptor told me about that website during my prison rotation (best rotation ever!!!! IHS was a close second).

I don't know about Salvia divinorum but Salvia vanhouttei has very sweet nectar reservoir.
