How often do yall do this? And by this I mean use the same basic essay for more than 1 secondary, when the prompts are similar enough. After my first 10 or so secondaries, I feel like there isn't much new I can write about unless these prompts are just out of the blue

well i used the same "here's what i've been up to since i finished college" blurb for a few schools, but i don't think that counts as an essay. for actual essays, i definitely copied and pasted sections but i didn't reuse entire essays.

Really? Even for the ones that were "tell us something" type of questions?

Personally, I did this whenever possible.

i mean, i'm not saying i didn't want to reuse essays, but the opportunity never really presented itself. i reused big chunks of things but always had to do a bit of tweaking to make it fit.

Yeah, same here I guess. There were 4 secondaries for which I used the exact same essay (just changed the school name). I then was able to use that essay on like 3 others, but either added to it or cut some out.

I've re-used the same essay on a handful of applications. It's usually with the prompt "is there any additional info that might be helpful in evaluating you?" I hope I'm not rushing through these too quickly, but I seem to be flying through them and sending them off in a few hours.

Yeah, I definitely reused major chunks of essays. Copy/pasting an entire "challenges" essay sounds good in theory, but in practice I think I had to make modifications because of slightly different prompts or character/word limits.

Oh, and always, always triple check to make sure that you replaced all the 'Harvards' with 'Yales' or whatever the case may be. THAT would look very bad.

Actually, I usually write different stuff for similar questions just because I think of something new each time to talk about.

Same here, even though I have the same stuff to write about, I still write it from scratch. Every time, I write about the same topic, my writing seems to improve...
