Hello! I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything from Samuel Merritt (acceptances, rejections, interviews, etc) yet or if I'm just needlessly worrying. I'm hoping that it's the latter...

I got an interview invitation exactly one week ago.

I also heard back from SMU last Friday. The e-mail ended up in my spam so you may want to check your spam folder.

Good luck with your interview GB 78!

Ah, yes it was indeed in my spam folder. I hope I haven't missed anything else from schools...

Thanks for the heads-up!

this worries me; does anybody know if they contact everyone all at once or how many interview dates SMU has? I'm putting up my biggest hope for this school...

ducklun: they have one interview date on january 21. from what i've heard, anyone who has gotten an invitation to interview has until today to accept the invitation. i guess they will send out another round of invitations to applicants once everyone has confirmed (or not confirmed) for the date? Also, have you checked your spam folder yet? I did after seeing the replies on this thread and was able to find their response email.

is SMU your number 1 choice?

Yes SMU is my 1st choice since I live just across the bridge. I did check my spam folder and there's nothing, guess I'm not invited for the 1st round...hopefully, more spaces will open up for the 2nd round if there's such a thing. Thanks for your response.

I checked my spam folder and did not have anything, but just got an email saying on Dec. 23rd I was sent an interview invite and to check my spam folder. I was given until January 6th to respond if I wanted the interview or not. I would suggest contacting Lizzie Mayo asap.

Good for you. I didn't receive such an email, I guess I'll face up with Lizzie. Thanks.

Anyone know what to expect from the interview. I know they said Sat. Jan 21st. But not really too sure what to expect.

Also, did anyone get the interview schedule yet?

Anyone know where they're going to stay for the interview??? All the hotels sound... interesting.

I'm not sure where is a good place to stay. But the area around Samuel Merritt is a little shady..... just fyi.

Agreed. Kind of hard to find a nice place to stay.

I recommend staying in SF then taking BART over. That way you'll get to experience the fun of SF. If you stay downtown it will be easy to catch a train. There is a Courtyard on 2nd that is in a good location, the one on 7th is a little sketchy. There are also a number of Hostels downtown. Anything in the financial district is good but stay away from anything beyond 6th st. 6th through 11th is the Tenderloin and is not safe at night. Good Luck! See you there!

there are also places in emeryville that are fine.

I've used this site before and have had pretty good results. It's definitely worth a try if you're an outgoing type and don't mind meeting new people

www.airbnb.com

Also, it's pretty cheap, which is definitely a plus.

MUCHO help Aloha. SF seems like a far bart ride but the courtyard doesn't seem too bad.

Airbnb sounds like an easy way to find yourself on the back of a milk carton. :scared: haha.

For those still looking for a place to stay, I live in the Bay Area and would recommend staying in Emeryville or Berkeley (not Oakland, as it is not safe). Hotel Shattuck Plaza in downtown Berkeley is pretty nice, and is right next to the BART and buses. Honestly, though, I would just rent a car and drive to Samuel Merritt, rather than take the bus to that area. In Berkeley there is also Doubletree Hotel right on the Bay in the very quiet marina area. There are some cheaper ones, too, on University Ave, like Holiday Inn Express, that are not bad. There are also locally owned hotels like Bancroft Hotel and Rose Garden Inn, both near UC Berkeley, that look nice. Hope that helps!

hey guys! i was wondering if anyone knew what the interview at samuel merritt was going to be like - is it more of a behavioral interview or do they ask more questions about why you want to do PT and stuff? thanks 🙂
