Hello, I received an acceptance to two MBS programs and I am having a hard time trying to select which one. I haven't been able to find much on Barry U when it comes to students who are pre-medical in the program and the acceptances they received for medical school. Samuel Merritt U is new, so there is no information that I can search for. I am looking for advice. I have one week to make my decision!
Here's my Pro's and Con's List
Samuel Merritt University
Pros
-Guaranteed interview with CHSU-COM if all requirements are met
-Staff seems supportive and responsive
-~$40,000
-Small class size
-Hybrid or online
-One year program
Cons
-New: will be a student in the first cohort
-Not well known due to being a new program
-Do not know what to expect with courses and how the program will be ran
-No MCAT Prep build-in (as of yet)
-Seems as though its geared towards DO programs
Barry University
Pros
-Well established
-Many students have been excepted to medical schools on my list (DO/MD) over the years
- ~$35,000
-Hybrid or online
-Medical programs have information sessions for students through the program
-Staff seems supportive and responsive
-3 DO guaranteed interviews if all requirements are met (limited number of students to interview for 2/3 schools)
-Start as one year but can decide on extending to 18 months or 2 years
Cons
-Big class size
-No MCAT prep
-No current information from past students from the last 2 years on the success rates of receiving A for MD/DO programs
-Seems to be geared towards pre-dental students
