Recently I have been reading some of the experiences have had with their DAT exam and it seems like everyone is pretty much summarizing that the RC has a lot of inference questions similar to the SATs. Would it be wise for someone in my situation (exactly 5 weeks until the exam) to pull out some of the old SAT prep books i have and work with the RC sections in there?

Thanks in advance

I think the easiest way to get good at RC is to read. Get some dense reading material like science articles you are NOT interested in or subscribe to a newspaper like wall street journal and read read read. Read a section and test yourself...see if you understand what you just read. The questions on the RC are predictable it's the comprehension and inference that seems to be troubling a lot of people. Why read SAT articles when you know you're going to have a dental article at least? Why not submerge yourself in dental material so you're more familiar come test time. I'm taking mine in 4 days...I wish I had the time to read the paper more 🙁 good luck!

I actually didn't have any dental articles on my dat... they were related to ecology, fossils, animal behaviour etc (trying to be vague here so I don't give any undue advantage). None of the passages were related to dentistry at all. It felt like fairly light reading to me. I was expecting thick science papers but it wasn't the case. They were probably more like SAT passages or an article in time magazine than anything else. And yes, there were lots of inference questions.

Good luck!

oh really? That's really good to hear...I thought one of the passages was always about one dental article. thanks for the input 🙂
