if you don't think you are going to get into pharm school this application round, what's the best way to ask your professors to keep the rec for next year?
should I ask for a copy of the letter and keep it on file for next year or should i flat out say, can you keep this on file just in case i don't get in this time around? thanks for the feedback!

Most professors have a folder on their computer for recommendations that they wrote saved by your last name. I don't think it's too far of a stretch for you to ask them to keep your letter on file. I would think they are more likely to do that than give you a letter to keep.

Just my thoughts.
Good luck!

Hi 🙂
the ONLY science class i've gotten an A in is physics (and i'm a senior with a bio degree, i should have more A's then just one 🙁 ), and luckily, I was the
2nd best in my class of 250 😀
although that class was in spring of 2005, i asked my professor for a reccomendation letter for 2007...and one of the schools i am not applying to anymore...so if God forbid i don't get in for 2007, i'm thinking of asking for more reccomendation letters soon for 2008, and if he doesn't have me on file, i'll just give him the sealed letter that i didn't turn in to the pharm college i decided not applying to.
problem is that it's been 2 years since i've taken that class.....do you think he'd still write me a letter if i asked? i haven't really visited him 🙁 but i do send him an email once in a blue moon

You won't know unless you ask him. Most professors know that they probably won't be asked for a letter of recommendation until a few years after you've had them in class. Don't be shy, just call them or if you are in the area, drop by his office. I asked my chemistry professor for a LOR this year, I took his class in 2000 or 2001, and he remembered me quite well. So, you never know what they remember. Good luck!
