Schedule for M1 whilst not totally abandoning my family?

Starting M1 in July. We have a 2 year old and a new baby due in May. Hoping to get some advice/anecdotes about a realistic schedule of studying and not being a total dead beat dad...

I've had students who had kids in med school. It's doable.

One resource you have is other students who are also parents.

IF grandparents are nearby, that's also a big help.

But your family does need to get used to this conversation:

Them: What are you doing?
You: Studying.

Thanks @Goro, both of my parents are retired and have been super helpful in our journey so far. I guess I'm just worried about the inevitable. Would you mind expanding upon the other students as parents point?

You could share daycare, for example.

Suggest inquiring into the school specific thread and seeing what current student-parents do at your school.

I went to med school away from home. I was gone Monday 10'AM to Friday 5 PM but my weekends were my family's. If you are at school early 6 AM and leave around 7 PM, you can probably do bedtime each day and most of the weekend. Good luck!
