Searched it but came up with threads >3 years old. Sorry if this is a repost.

Are you guys scheduling TY/prelim interviews mixed in with ophtho? I really can't see how this will work out. If you schedule a TY interview mixed in with the ophtho dates, you run the risk of blocking out that date for a potential future ophtho interview? In this case, could you try to reschedule the TY/prelim interview for later? I'm guessing unlikely for competitive TY programs. I know to schedule some TY in January so you can cancel if you don't get the ophtho interview in the area & don't want to move twice. I just don't see how the logistics of interviewing at 15 ophtho programs and 10 TY/prelim will work out in such little time. I interviewed at 9 programs for med school and that seemed a maxed out schedule to me. Any scheduling tips?

I was able to schedule a few during ophthalmology interviews. What you can try to do is once you get an interview for ophthalmology in a certain location, call a prelim program you applied to in the same region and tell them that - they may be able to schedule you a day before or after to make things smoother. Overall ophthalmology interviews supersede internship interviews so if you have to reschedule a prelim interview, you do so, they understand and it's not impossible even for TY programs. Try to push them to January if you can. Also you may want to do some prelim interviews way early in November - not many ophthalmology programs interview then compared to later and its good interview practice to get your feet wet.
