I was wondering how people go about scheduling multiple interviews in one trip-- I know people do it because when I was on interviews on the East coast, some Cali people were taking 2 weeks to go all over. My question is-- I just got an interview at UC Irvine, and haven't heard from other Cali schools, so is it completely ridiculous to call the others and say "look, I'll be in the state on these days, so if you were considering interviewing me that would be a good time"?? Or is that presumptuous and obnoxious? I don't want to hold off because rolling admissions and etc etc., yet I don't want to make a ton of trips to Cali either.... thoughts?

No, it's not totally ridiculous. That's how I got several interviews on the East Coast when I was traveling from Cali. I got one interview and called up 4 other schools to let them know that I would be in town. I reasoned that given the expense of flying, it would be ever so helpful for me to interview at as many schools in that region as possible. It worked for three of them, so I had four interviews in a week. (And the fourth school ended up accepting me anyway, so asking didn't hurt my chances there.)
