Hello,

I had a couple of questions pertaining to scholarships and college choices under the current conditions of my GPA, SAT, and medical job experience. I am currently a junior in high school and 17 years old.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a very informal layout of a resume/data:

GPA: 4.32

SAT: 2,000 (About even on all parts)

Job Experience: Laboratory/Experiment Preparation (2 years)
........................Neurologist Shadowing (1 year)
........................Spine Surgeon Shadowing/O.R. Experience (1 year)
........................Pulminary Specialist/Sleep Medicine Shadowing (1 year)

Prospective Job: Epidemiologist/Oncologist
.........................Geneticist

Prospective Major/Minor: Major: Chemistry
......................................Minor: Biology

Prospective Dr./M.D.: Whatever applies to Prospective Job
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was looking into going to UGA or Emory University for undergraduate school for both my major and minor. I was considering Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, or Emory University for my Dr./M.D.

Question: What are your comments/suggestions on schools to attend for these specific majors, minors, and Dr./M.D. programs?

I have also been looking into multiple scholarships and I would be exhilarated if it were possible for me to go to school (undergraduate) for free (full-ride).

Question: What are scholarships/scholarship sites that you would recommend that would potentially give me free college tuition?

Thanks in advance. 🙂

For anything else use Google.
Btw, I'm not sure your work experience will influence scholarships in anyway. Maybe your GPA for academic scholarhsips but I'm not sure about your work experience.

As for schools to attend, from what I've found out, you can basically get into med school with any major so long as you do well on the MCAT and take the pre-reqs that they want. I'd suggest playing it cool and going to a decent school. No need to try to get into Ivy leauge. You'll just pile up debt.

By the way, some colleges award money to students for academic excellence which can slice your tuition in almost a half in your case 'cause of your GPA and SAT scores.

Cool, thanks for the sites - I haven't visited any of those, and they all look pretty promising.

I didn't know this, thanks for the information! 👍

If you want a full ride i would suggest looking into schools that are a little less competitive and checking out there scholarship pages. There are a few schools im sure where you might be able to get a full ride with your stats, they wont be an Emory or Vanderbilt, but it will be a place you can get a decent education and pursue your future graduate studies just fine.

Also if your applying to scholarships, those websites listed are for students all over then nation which make it rather competitive. Try to look for local scholarships in your area/state/region. You will have much better chances with those for sure.
