Hi everyone,
I was wondering how people are getting scholarships for Physical Therapy schools.
Does anybody know where to apply and what are the requirements?

Thank you!

Just like greco13 said. However, check with fastweb.com, as they have some general healthcare related scholarship. Also, check the APTA website as they also have scholarships available. However, they are mostly for current SPTs. Most importantly, check with the school/program to which you are applying as that is where most of your scholarships will come from; these include general graduate scholarships, new graduate scholarships based on merit or need, and physical therapy specific scholarships, which range anywhere from designating you as in-state to a few hundred $$$ to $1000+ per semester.

A little research goes a long way.

Lots of deep digging. My school is private and offers no scholarships. Check hospital and rehab sites some do tuition assistance. . Best school scholarships are through the state schools. In addition to fastweb there are other online search programs that list multiple scholarships.(cappex, metitaid) and check for state foundations and google, google. My mom is my resource expert, she does most of the searches because it's very time consuming. She's been doing it since I was in highschool. We do about 10 a year and get maybe 2 hits. So far I've received $30,000 through undergrad and for first yr PT (not counting the merit tuition for undergrad) they add up!!!

Another option is military service after graduation 🙂

Ok I've done a ton of research on the military thing. Would you want to continue this discussion in this topic or start a new one? I'm sure one exists already but it's definitely relevant here. I looked into Army-Baylor, waaaaayyy too competitive and too few spots. The other option I've heard about is the loan re-payment program that just started in PT this year or last year (from what the air force recruiter told me). Anyone else want to offer some input?

Found this in another topic...

"PTs may be added to the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program list of eligible professions, through passage of HR 1426, S. 975. This is quite overdue. Not to minimize any other health professions, but if dental hygienists are eligible, physical therapists should be too."
