I was wondering if it was common for pharmacy schools to give scholarships to incoming first year PharmD students based on academics and/or additional essays or applications. From the school websites I have seen, it seems like most are given to second, third, and fourth year students.

Does anyone have more information about this? The schools I'm specifically looking at are University of Michigan, University of Illinois - Chicago, Nova Southeastern, Wayne State, and Midwestern - Downer's Grove.

Some schools do give scholarships. NOVA has more than a few, including the chancellor and dean scholarships. I know chancellor covers 25% of your tuition, not sure about the dean's scholarship though... Incoming first year students can get these two scholarships by having a high GPA/PCAT, and I was told we could apply to a few more. I haven't really looked into the whole thing yet, so thats all I know so far 🙁
