I'm really interested in getting merit scholarship from schools. So far all I can find is information on minority or military scholarships, neither of which apply to me. What scholarships are there for non-minorities with high academics and DAT scores? For anyone who has been offered a scholarship to a particular school, how much were you offered, and for what was it offered? I don't have any outstanding research experience, just good grades and DAT, so that doesn't help.

Thanks!

Tufts offers a Merit scholarship, based only on your grades and dat scores. the amount varies. when i got accepted they gave me $6,000.

UCLA has a dean's scholarship of $10,000. ask dat_student about it.

Penn offers 25 Dean's Scholarships. It worth at half of your tuition for 4 years. This turns out to be around $92,000 ish ( around $23,000 x 4)

This is based on your GPA

at the interview they said to be considered you generally have to have at least a 3.85 just to give you an idea...there are 25 but its competitive.

UOP offers a deans scholarship ranging from $30,000 to $60,000. I think about 15% of my class got this. We all had DATs in the 22+ range across the board. Those with high GPAs were offered more money.

I heard NYU has a scholarship that pays for everything except living cost, and to continue to receive it, you need to maintain a 3.5 GPA.

now thats roughly...16 or so people, how high of a gpa/dat would that be, 3.7/22? say i get 3.88/24, would that be scholarship?

So which scholarships are not contingent on performance once you're in school? Not that I plan to do poorly, but I'd like to know up front what my expenses will be and not have to be constantly worried I might have to fork out another $10,000 if I don't get an A.

Penn Scholarship - you have to maintain B average to renew your scholarship every year.

Probably closer to 20 people or so, but I didn't take an exact head count. I don't know what everyone got, but here are a few I do know:

GPA/DAT - Amount
3.2 / 23 - $30k
3.5 / 23 - $30k
3.7 / 23 - $30k
3.8 / 23 - $45k
4.1 / 23 - $45k
3.8 / 26 - $60k

I'm sure there are other factors that go into deciding if they want to offer you a scholarship. I was never told the exact criteria however. The scholarships aren't renewed every year. It's $30k-$60k spread out over the entire three years. UOP doesn't care what grades we get as long as we don't fail out. the only other contingent is we are to write a thank you card to the people who donated the money for our scholarship every year. Also, everyone that I know of that received a scholarship was admitted on Dec 1, so we had all applied early.

When you refer to GPA does it generally mean overall GPA or science/math GPA? My overall GPA is probably about .2 higher than my science classes and I know schools look at both.
