Hey guys,

Just finished my app this morning and gonna submit tonight. Hoping to get some peoples inputs on my list of schools/chances.

Applied to Harvard, Columbia, UCSF, UOP, UCLA. From New Hampshire, don't really want to waste a lot of money on applications since I've got pretty good stats. 22AA 21TS 18PAT 🙁 with a 3.65 gpa (3.55 science).

Let me know if you think I should add/lose any schools

Cheers

1. Your stats are good but not that good to justify only applying to 5 highly competitive schools.

2. Your stats are a way too low for Harvard and I think slightly below average for Columbia.

3. If you aren't a Cali resident, UOP and UCLA are reaches for you. UOP puts a lot of emphasis on high DATs and prefer Cali residents and UCLA is quite difficult to get in as an in state student let alone out of state

not a low stats, but it is low for havard, UCLA , Columbia, and UCSF.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. A 22 AA applying to those schools? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I would personally need at least a 25 or 26 AA to even consider applying to any of the schools on your list, tbh. Of course you should shoot for the stars, but maybe sprinkle some safeties in there. Also, I hate to be "that guy", but an 18 PAT is pretty abysmal and will probably take you out of the running at any top or mid tier school. Have you considered retaking? I'm currently in the process of studying and have been crushing the PAT section. If you want, I would be more than happy to give you some tips 🙂.

Sincerely,
Roadto28
No way in the world you want to retake 22AA LOL. Just apply to more private school instead of those highly competitive schools.

Thanks for the advice but any schools specifically? Could probably swing 2 more apps but not trying to do many more than that

I would recommend UDM or NYU because they are easy to get interviews, accept or not is totally depend on your interview skills.

You're running the risk of having to reapply. Why not apply to some schools that are easier to get into as well? Just look up schools that are OOS friendly

This is a dumb post. Sorry.

1. I had a 18 PAT this past cycle, same AA as OP, got 8 interviews including UPenn.

2. Retaking a 22 AA is such a dumb idea

I would get rid of UCLA, it's almost impossible to get in from out of state, and with your stats i don't think it's worth applying. harvard is also a reach for you. Some schools I would suggest possibly considering are NYU, Boston University, Temple, Tufts, UNE.

Take out Harvard, Columbia, and UCLA. Unless you're an unrepresented minority, it's not likely for you to get an interview at those schools with your stats and residency.

What state in the northeast do you live in? I'd add schools like UDM, Tufts, BU, Louisville, Maryland, VCU, etc

Which schools interviewed/accepted if you don't mind me asking? And GPA?
