Hello,
From CA, currently 3rd year undergrad with more 1 yr left.
cGPA 3.6
sGPA ~3.4-3.5 (probably)
DAT: 23 AA, 23 TS, 22 PAT

Hours:
- 300+ volunteering hours (pre-dental club, food bank, tutor)
- 100+ shadowing hours
- intramural sport, TA for bio

no research

I'd like to stay on the west coast (secondarily east coast), do community outreach, prefer early clinical work, pretty set on gen dentistry, cheaper cost if possible. All these schools are starting to look the same..

Don't know why everyone seems to overlook UNLV. Not only is it close to home for you (I'm from CA too), but it is a new school, with the most up-to-date equipment, and offers everything you are looking for. Not to mention if you reside in NV for 1 year, you get In-State Tuition for the final 3 years (saving you 120K). To be fair I will be attending there in the fall so I am biased on this.

Take off - USC, Boston, Tufts, Columbia, UPenn, Univ of Maryland, Univ of Connecticut, and UCSF
Add in - UNLV

21 schools. Still too much with your stats I think but if money isn't an option, do those and you'll be fine I'm sure

I really wanted to apply to UNLV too, but I don't fulfill their anatomy and biochemistry requirements unfortunately 🙁

Apply 10-12 max. Remove USC and private schools like ASDOH & MWU AZ, Case, Tufts, Roseman, Boston, UDM, etc. Your stats are competitive.
Have you checked to see if the public schools you have are OOS friendly? If not, remove them.
Do you have any AP credit? If so, remove Rutgers.
If you do want to stay on the west coast, remove east coast/midwest schools as they're like more than half of your list. At least make em half. Also, make sure you have good reasons for applying to all the schools you have in your final list.

Good luck applying 🙂

Rutgers let me in with AP credit, but it was for an English course.

Q. Do AP (advanced placement) courses count towards my pre-dental requirements?
A. No.
(source)

On their requirements page they say AP courses will not be accepted for science specifically, but their FAQ says no AP credit for any requirements, of which English is included. I applied with AP credit for the sciences and had both called and emailed asking if it was okay to use upper division courses, and they said yes, but I was rejected for having them soooo better safe than sorry.
