I would check out this blog as he had similar stats to you - http://stealingmedschool.blogspot.com
He applied with a 3.1 cGPA, a 3.0 sGPA, but had a high grad GPA. His MCAT score was a 36 on the old exam (97th percentile). He actually ended up getting into a few MD programs including a top school.

another similar story - http://wanderingtomedschool.blogspot.com/
This person had a 3.1 cGPA and <3.5 sGPA but also got a 36 MCAT and was accepted MD.

So n=2 here, but even with your lower undergrad GPA, you stand a chance with your high MCAT.
I would still apply broadly and consider adding some DO schools.

Thanks for the blogs! They definitely give me some hope 🙂 I should've clarified...I'm also applying to Nova Southeastern (DO) but had lumped it in with the Florida schools in my initial post. I'm considering adding a few more DO schools, but would really like to stay in FL (unless I get in MD somewhere) and think I stand a good chance at Nova now that I've gotten my MCAT scores back.

edited school list, anyone have any opinions on the schools I've added? Thanks!

I can't really recommend applying to an MD school with a 3.1 science GPA unless there is an enormous upward trend. Sorry. Unless we are talking about an SMP program, your grad school GPA isn't making up for a poor undergrad one. Just to give perspective a 3.1 science GPA is really starting to push things for a DO program although I think you could manage to get into one with a broad list.

If your goal is MD you need a post-bacc/SMP. No Americorps or any other program is making up for that GPA. Your MCAT is strong enough for SMPs but I personally am for avoiding them unless there is literally no other option(just my opinion you won't see others necessarily share it) A strong year of post-bacc that can move your stats up into the 3.4/3.3 range and considering the upward trend that will bring I think you can then be in position where you can consider applying to MDs.

If in fact you do the post-bacc successfully and raise your GPA accordingly(or ace an SMP) that list is fine.
