Hello all! I need some serious help, I don't know how to make my medical school list. Every school I see, I want to go to for some reason or other. Can someone please beat some sense into me? Which schools should I be applying to? What mistakes am I making in my list? Here's my stats and list, I appreciate any help in advance! I have a lot of time for secondaries this summer, but know that fifty schools is way too many. AGH. What the helly, I'm figuring I need to wean down my low yield schools and also make things a little less top heavy. Thank you thank you thank you.

-WA state, URM, took 2 gap years
-3.85cgpa, 3.79sgpa, 524 mcat
-application heavily focused towards service (volunteer at camp for children with diabetes, juvenile diabetes research foundation, organization for sobriety support, homeless shelter, fundraising team for diabetes research) - 1400 hours
-2200 hours EMT-B, 1000 hours EMT supervisor of unhoused detox shelter
-600 hours in neuro research (no pubs, 1 presentation)
-No X factor, but a a type 1 diabetic (strong "why medicine")

Welcome to the forums.

We all fall prey to the marketing. You need to talk to current students or recent alumni (current residents). 50 schools is way too many. What networking have you done with AMSA, SNMA, or affinity medical student groups that align with your heritage or background? Clearly, you have a strong interest and motivation in diabetes care.

Break down all of your experiences including individual activity hours. Follow the WAMC template.

Thank you, I will reframe this in the WAMC template. I appreciate your response, still trying to figure this all out!
