Hey!

I'm a non-trad who just recently took the DAT and scored

PAT – 20
QR – 20
RC – 18
Bio – 22
GC – 19
OC – 20
---------------
TS – 20
AA – 20

My BCP, science and overall GPA is all about the same- 3.3. Graduated in 2008 with all my pre-req's complete but no recent coursework. I've been working since I graduated, have a good amount of shadowing experience (same dentist for over 2 yrs) plus I worked as a dental assistant for 2 years. I have solid LORs from the dentist I shadow and my current employer and good volunteer work experience. Will the lack of recent coursework hurt? I'm planning on taking a couple this Fall, most likely A/P I and Mircobiology.

Any ideas on where I should apply? My tentative list so far is Temple, UMDNJ, Howard, Meharry, Louisville, UConn, Boston, NYU, Tufts, Mercy, Maryland, Buffalo.

Maybe's are Pitt, VCU, Midwestern (both), Case, Marquette.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

are you a URM? why Howard and Meharry?

I like your list. If you are not a New York resident, then I would remove Buffalo. I hear it's a tough school to get into as an OOS. Your GPA is a bit low, but I think you will be alright in some of these schools. I can't remember which schools have a 5 year courses requirement, but I think the majority don't have a requirement. If your DAT was taken recently, they will be fine with your coursework.

Good luck this cycle.

I wish i were an URM 🙁...

Thanks. My DAT was taken 6/18 haha so its pretty recent. I talked to a few schools... some didn't have a 5 year requirement and some did. Those that did however didn't seem to firm on the fact depending on what you've been doing in between the time off and now.
