Hi all, I know I don't have the greatest shot at a DO school, but I'm still planning to apply this year and hope for the best. I'm a non traditional student and don't really feel I have the time/money to spend on a SMP when I've already done a diy postbacc. uGPA 3.15 (averaging in an teaching certification postbacc, without that 3.0), sGPA 3.2. my original degree is from 2010 so in the past 12 months I have taken about 24 credits of high level science with a 3.96 GPA from those courses (one A-, the rest all As). There is also a strong upward trend between undergrad and teaching postbacc (which was for science education). Haven't taken the official MCAT, but my practice full lengths have been around a 510.
I'm a CT resident, but was a NJ one for awhile and taught there and in NYC if that matters. I did also take 2 prereq classes through UNE, so the schools need to be willing to accept online course work. I have been a highly regarded special education science teacher since ending school, but have kept up with medicine through shadowing, etc. I was originally enrolled in a DPT program after graduating and left that before actually starting because I realized PT wasn't for me and I wasn't at a place where I could handle grad school successfully, I've worked very hard academically and personally to get to that place so I'm ready to apply. I'm not planning on being picky at all with schools I apply to, if I'm lucky enough to be able to be picky, I will do that when choosing an acceptance 🙂
So far my list includes ACOM, LECOM, RVU, UNE, NSUCOM, and WVSCM. I am also planning on apply to podiatry schools.
Thanks in advance for the advice!
