What schools should I take off?
Also when should I submit my app? I am waiting on one LOR from my dentist (he forgot his signature on bottom) everything else is complete.

Remove schools you won't be attending even if you are accepted. I see so many people complaining "I was accepted here but i don't want to go here because it's too expensive" blah blah. Use common sense and be realistic. Do you like a suburban setting? Do you not like cities? Then remove NYU/Tufts etc.

Check the DAT cut off list that was posted recently to see if any schools will discard your app based on your QR.

If you really want to, you can call the schools that you don’t meet the cut off for to see if they are flexible and will still consider your app.

Also, double check your LORs and make sure they match what the schools are looking for.

Look at out of state stats and minority acceptances, I think that Meharry is like Howard were they accept predominately URM, and Bama accepts very few applicants out of state. Again, you’re competitive, so you have a shot for those seats, but unless you are dying to go there, I’d cut them out.

I know for a fact that Oklahoma does not like to be on too long a list. They were my state school and seemed straight up shocked that I was applying to 10 other places.

Like others said, you should trim it to 15ish. First, make sure that your odds are decent for an interview. Then, look into the priorities and culture of the schools. If you have values and goals that line up with theirs (as represented by their PR departments) then you have a better chance of being interviewed and accepted.

This is just like online dating. Panicking and spraying desperation at everything you see will get you nowhere. You have to approach this with some thought and confidence. You should treat it like you have a great chance of being accepted to any school that appeals to you, because if you frame yourself the right way there really isn’t any reason why you wouldn’t. Also, you should think about Pitt and Rutgers. They’re great schools for OOS friendliness.

I don’t believe a school list could ever be too long. Being competitive isn’t necessarily objective and everyone applying is “competitive”. Dental Schools cannot interview everyone. It’s not logistically possible.

I do agree to remove places you would not want to move to and tuition you would not be willing to pay.

If you're not financially restricted and you're open to go anywhere then sure there's nothing wrong with that list. You probably would get in without a list that long and you'll probably be too burned out mid cycle to finish all your secondaries and interviews though.
