Hey guys,
I've been using the MSAR (and LizzyM a bit) to guide me but I'd appreciate some additional input on my school list if you have time.

Major: Human Biology
Residence: California
cGPA: 3.99
sGPA: 4.0
MCAT: I find out Tuesday. AAMC scored practice test was 516. I hope anywhere between 512-517 is a reasonable estimate.
Research:
  • ~475 hours of research at a Children's Hospital. No papers or publications. Just solid letters of recommendation from my PI and a post-doc in the lab.
  • ~30 hours of research on a project at my school
Clinical volunteer: 120 hours at local hospital helping out the nurses in medical-surgical.
Non-clinical volunteer:
  • Volunteer religious service ~1000 hours: 2 year mission in rural Alaska amongst Native Alaskans. About ~1000 hours of service at various Senior Centers, Food Banks, Library, built house for Native Alaska family, organized local basketball for the Native youth, and more
  • Sunday school teacher ~200 hours
  • Senior center volunteer ~50 hours
  • Special Ed volunteer ~15 hours
Shadowing: 90 hours total. 65 of those with family physician.
Leadership:
  • Vice President and Coordinator of MCAT prep society ~70 hours
  • University tutor for various science courses~1000 hours (this was actually paid employment)
  • Academic Advisor ~350 hours (paid employment)

Please let me know of any schools that you think I should add/remove.
I've read threads similar to this and seems like many of you are very knowledgable about med schools - your help is appreciated!

Add the ones you're considering.

You have too many UC's listed not to.

Also, you might want to remove some of the more identifying details you have in your post to preserve your anonymity - we don't really need to know about that one particular hobby for example in order to advise you, or know what state you did some of those EC's

Thanks for the advice. Just edited. Would you suggest I add any other schools?
 
I'd avoid schools like University of Kentucky and University of Louisville since they barely take anyone OOS.

Using MSAR it looks like about 22% of students are OOS @ University of Kentucky and 25% of students are OOS for University of Louisville. Do you think that is not enough OOS? Or is it because they have 2k or 3k OOS state applicants?

I definitely don't want to waste my money. Thanks.
